Crazy Hand
Otherwise known as limping to the turn then getting 800 big blinds all in with the nuts and still managing to be a 2-1 underdog
There was a problem with blogger and for some reason it took almost 24 hours for my last post to be uploaded. Well, in the meantime I'd gone and bought that PS3! I had to scour the streets of London as everywhere had sold out. I eventually tracked one down in Trocadero.
Consequently I've played virtually no poker for the last 10 days, but I did go to a home game which got pretty crazy. I ended up clearing up, winning the tournament (£3 rebuy, which I was in for £30!) and hitting the cash game up for a nice profit. Most of that was thanks to the last hand of the night at about 7:30am.
We'd been playing dealers choice for a while playing 5p and 10p blinds. We got down to three handed and two of us were pretty deep when this hand reared its ugly head:
Game: Six card Omaha H/L PL
Seat 1: Pinky £90
Seat 2: Dave £10
Seat 3: Q £80
Dave posts sb 5p
Q posts bb 10p
Pinky straddles 25p
Dave calls
Q calls
Pinky checks
Flop: 7h 3c Jc
Dave checks
Q checks
Pinky checks
Turn Qh
Dave checks
Q bets 75p
Pink raises £2.25
Dave folds
Q raises £6.25
Pinky raises to £20.25
Q is all in for £80
***So I'm sitting there thinking "Woah, time out! I've got the nuts on the turn. There's only one card to come. Seriously what the hell can he have? I looked at the board and saw four possible draws. Two flush draws, a straight wrap and a low draw. Surely he can't have ALL four draws. He could easily have only three of them. My low draw could still be good. Hell, he could have a set of jacks and loads of draws. Shit, even if he does have all four draws, there's only one card to come, it can't be far off even money. Of course I call....***
Q has Kd Kc Tc 3s 5h Ah
Pinky has Qc Qd 8s 6d 5d 2h
***Well, who would have guessed it. He's got all four draws. In fact the only way I can scoop the pot is if the board pairs and he's got one of those outs too.***
River 3h
***BOOM***
Pinky wins £160.25 with full house Queens full of treys, there is no low.
***We did the maths after the hand. There were 9 cards for me to scoop, 9 cards for a split and 18 cards for him to scoop. I couldn't believe that I was such a big dog with the nuts and only one card to come.***
Oh well, ship it!
